ProKennex Ki 10 (305 g) tennis racquet review

The ProKennex Ki 10 305 g (2022) tennis racquet is semi-powerful, just a bit heavy, with a nice access to topspin, a bit of weight at the tip of the racquet and a good level of comfort.

Let's see that in detail.

Introducing the ProKennex Ki 10 (305g) racquet (2022)

2022 version of the ProKennex Ki 10, a racquet with a very slightly heavy weight of 305 g, comfortable, with a good dose of power and access to topspin.

Kinetic technology

Kinetic Technology, found only in ProKennex racquets, is the use of micro-spheres embedded in the racquet frame and in the handle, that move during swings, creating energy transfer when players hit the ball.

This system allows:

  • to have more power,
  • to enlarge the area which allows to have an optimal power,
  • to improve the stability of the racquet,
  • improve vibration absorption and comfort.

ProKennex tennis racquets have the reputation to be very comfortable because of this technology.

This system is therefore interesting for players with elbow pain such as tennis elbow.

The mass of kinetic system included in the frame is indicated in the name of the racquets; for the Ki 10, there are 10 grams of kinetic system.

The values go from 5 to 30, with the Ki 10, we are therefore on a relatively light kinetic system, nevertheless, we can clearly feel the movement of the balls in the frame during blank swings.

During the game, with the speed of the swings, you hardly feel the micro-spheres move.

The Power of the ProKennex Ki 10 305g racquet (2022)

During my test, I found that the ProKennex Ki 10 offered a good amount of power, without being too powerful

On my forehand and backhand, I had a good compromise between power and control.

I had a good dose of power without feeling like I had to force my shots.

At the same time, I had a fairly satisfying level of control.

As the session went on, I felt the slightly high swingweight of 331 which gave a slight feeling of weight at the tip of the racquet, which made it a little difficult for me to accelerate the racquet.

I would recommend this racquet more to players with fairly large swings, who know how to use the weight of the racquet to produce power without forcing.

On the backhand side, I was less bothered by the swingweight, but I'm still more comfortable with racquets that have a little less weight in the head.

On serve, a weak point for me in terms of power, I felt quite correct but again, the weight at the head made it a bit difficult for me to accelerate the racquet head.

Again, good technique is required, with large, loose and fluid swings.

Finally, I would say that this racquet is semi-powerful.

Among the few racquets with a weight of 305g, a 645 cm²/98 in² headsize (5 racquets at the time of writing this review), this is one of the most powerful racquet.

More power:

  • Solinco Blackout
  • Babolat Pure Drive
  • Wilson Ultra 100, Burn 100
  • Head Extreme MP
  • Tecnifibre TF-X1
  • Yonex EZone 100
  • Prince Vortex 300 g

Similar:

  • Dunlop SX 300
  • Babolat Pure Aero 2023
  • Yonex VCore 100
  • Head Speed MP

Less power:

  • Prince Tour 100P
  • Babolat Pure Strike, Pure Aero VS
  • Head Radical, Boom Pro
  • Tecnifibre TFight
  • Wilson Blade, Pro Staff, Clash
  • Yonex VCore Pro

Access to spins with the ProKennex Ki 10 (305g) racquet (2022)

On my slice backhand, I had excellent feelings.

Concerning topspin, I had excellent sensations from the baseline, access to topsin is easy without being particularly exaggerated.

On the serve, I had good access to slice and a little more difficult access for the topspin serve but it was ok, especially since the topspin serve is not a strong point for me.

Overall, I found access to topspin quite correct.

Maneuverability of the ProKennex Ki 10 305g tennis racquet

The balance of the ProKennex Ki 10 (305g) is located at 32 cm for an unstrung racquet, which is equivalent to a neutral balance.

On the other hand, the swingweight of 331 is slightly high, which produces a slight feeling of weight in the head of the racquet and reduces maneuverability a little.

Throughout the session, I was slightly bothered by this feeling at the head of the racquet, which caused me to lose a bit of swing speed, especially on the forehand where I don't always have a very large and relaxed swing.

The maneuverability of the racquet will, in my opinion, be fine for players:

  • having rather large and loose swings,
  • who do not only play with the wrist/forearm to accelerate the racquet.

Personally, I liked the shape of the head, an oval shape, which gives me a little more maneuverability than racquets with a more rounded shape.

Overall, the maneuverability is therefore correct, but beware of the weight in the head, which reduces it slightly.

Comfort with the ProKennex Ki 10 (305g) racquet

I found the comfort excellent, with fairly soft feelings and good vibration absorption.

I wasn't bothered by the noise of the Kinetic technology micro-spheres moving around, but I imagine it may disturb some players.

In the doubt, test to see if it bothers you.

Despite the shape of the oval head, not rounded like many current racquets, I found the tolerance of the racquet very good.

Who would I recommend the ProKennex Ki 10 (305g) racquet (2022) to?

I would recommend the ProKennex Ki 10 (305g)  to players:

  • of an intermediate or advanced level, not for beginners,
  • able to play with a slightly heavy racquet, with a little feeling of weight in the head,
  • who want a racquet with a good power level, without having the highest power level,
  • with a good technique, rather loose swings,
  • able to use the weight of the racquet to produce power without forcing,
  • with a semi-powerful game,
  • who want a correct access to topspin,
  • looking for a comfortable racquet, maybe having elbow pain,
  • looking for a racquet that combines a slightly heavy weight of 305 g with a good power/control compromise and at the same time a very good level of comfort.
